SCREEN: The Order Of Myths

"The Order Of Myths" hits the IFC Center in NYC this week:

The oldest festival of its kind in the US, Mobile, Alabama's colorful, ornate Mardi Gras has always been segregated, with separate -- and not quite equal -- parades, secret societies and balls organized by the city's black and white communities. But as Mobile gears up for another year's celebrations, a glimmer of change seems to lurk on the horizon. With a sharp and subtle eye, native daughter Margaret Brown (Be Here to Love Me: A Film about Townes Van Zandt) lays bare the complicated legacy of tradition and history in the Deep South.
